If you have notice the recent news, iPhone has finally been unlock to work with any SIM card. And now you can even purchase an unlocked one through this site @ SGD 1500: http://www.iphone-singapore.com/, and they are based in Singapore. I have actually emailed them to find out how true and reliable is their services, below is the email:
tysoh: “How much are you selling for the iPhone? Do you accept trade in for previous iPods?”
iPhone-Singapore: “We’re selling at SG$1500. No, we don’t accept trade in.”
tysoh: “If I want to buy it, when can you all provide the product asap? And can I have cash on delivery.”
iPhone-Singapore: “Yes, you might be able to come to our office to collect, I am not sure. If not, then we can meet up. If you want to see how the unlocked iPhone functions, we can meet up even today to show you. However, right now we do not have stock left, we have already made orders and they are expected to arrive on Thursday, even so, we may not have stock for you by the time it arrives. If you want to reserve 1 set, we would appreciate if you are able to make a down payment.”
tysoh: “If I purchase it myself, will you all be able to flash the firmware for me (of course I can pay accordingly)? Cos I think the price you stated is a bit too steep, as the US currently selling for USD 399 only.”
iPhone-Singapore: “Sorry, we don’t provide unlocking services. If you think our price is steep, some people are selling for $1650, and some people are robbing at price of $2k and beyond. You need to understand that when we unlock the iPhones, we take on the risk of bricking the phones, which means they become unusable anymore. No consumer will buy a bricked iPhone, so they are pretty useless, we unlock some, we brick once a while. These are risks that we took, not to mention the shipping expenses, the tax, the suppliers fee, paying employee to unlock, etc… When you factor in these costs, you would more likely find the price to be quite reasonable.”
tysoh: “Since you mentioned about unlocking, will this affect any future software updates from Apple? And once you unlock it, will I get the full function form the iPhone, or some features cannot be use? If I were to make down-payment, how much should I pay?”
iPhone-Singapore: “Once we unlocked the iPhones, we do not encourage users to update the iPhone until we’ve certified that it won’t relock back the iPhones. So it’s a matter of checking with us and we’ll let you know before you do anything. Yes, you’ll get the full function. =) If you find something wrong, please feedback immediately. Because if you not happy, some other customers may also get affected, we want to ensure we provide good service for our customers, it’s part of the pricing. The down payment is $300.”

Guys, they are not authorised resellers whatever they say… they are basically scammers, that’s all! Look at they site now, they are gone and I doubt that they will be back.
Macus, 920 is way to high for a iPhone that is so-call unlock. by doing a so call software hack, the warranty is void. and you rish the chance od getting it locked again.
If you are interested, get a real US or UK set (Brand new) on ebay for around USD499 or maybe slighly higher (but never lower), after that, get on of those iPhone SIM Unlock Adapter (make sure you get the right version).
By doing that, there will be NO permanent dange done to the iPhone and you enjoy FULL FUNCTION!
