WordPress has just released its latest app in the Apple App Store, which allow users to download it for free, and use it to update their blogs either hosted with WordPress.com or with their own servers. As you can see in this message, this is my first thread posted with the iPhone. Its pretty easy to use, you got to try it too!

iPhone + App Store is truely an amazing all-in-one mobile integration, I think its one of the best mobile integration ever created on Earth till date, it may even replace your laptop one day. I mean in terms of friendliness, coolness, technology, the way how hardware is integrated with the software, functionality, potential, it has win over many of its competitors, such as Motorola, Blackberry, Nokia and etc. Anything you wanted to do, can be accomplished easily by just using the iPhone. Right from calling someone, SMS, checking your email, browsing the web, listen to your favourite music, watching movies, using the GPS maps, taking a fast shot with a camera and etc. With the recent launch of the iPhone 3G, App Store and firmware 2.0, I can further justified my view, iPhone is just amazing. Most importantly, its the app store which has open up to even more possibilities for the iPhone. You name it, they have it.

The App Store really have lots of potential in it, it has provided many great opportunities for both the consumers, as well as tech business world. Currently, Apple is offering both paid and free apps for you to download. If you are a developer, you may even consider to come out with your own app, and sell it in the Apple store. In terms of user-friendliness, Apple has cleverly integrated the App Store together with their iTunes Store, and therefore user can just simply visit one store, and retrieve most of the stuff they need (ie music, movies, podcasts, iPhone apps and etc.), all under one roof. Other than accessing the App Store through iTunes, users can also access all the apps directly on their iPhone. Its pretty easy and I can’t think of anything else that will be easier than this. Although the current apps collection is still quite limited, with approximately over 500 native apps available, but I strongly believe in months to come, more apps will be added in. So, do visit the App store frequently for any latest updates! Hopefully by then, there will be even more iPhone users around the World, continue to grow this potential community!

Finally, iPhone-dev has release their latest version of Pwnage Tool 2.0 (Mac version), they have not officially announce it yet, but just roll it out early for they people who cant hold it anymore. Please take note that this version will only unlock, activate and jailbreak iPhone (1st generation), as for iPhone 3G, it will only activate and jailbreak. The guys at MacGeekBlog has posted a very good tutorial on using Pwnage Tool 2.0, I have personally tested the tool with my iPhone (1st generation), and its working great! The only thing that is missing now is the popular Installer App, however iPhone-dev team has added another alternative called Cydia, it works pretty much like Installer, but still quite buggy on firmware 2.0. As for me its still ok, because all I wanted to try out is the official Apple App Store. If now you cant live without the Installer App, I suggest that you continue to wait for their official release…

According to the latest blog post from iphone-dev team, they are now in the stage of fine-tuning their next Pwnage Tool release for iPhone firmware 2.0, and it should be coming soon. However, this software will only unlock for original iPhone and not the iPhone 3G. If the current iPhone 3G owners would like to unlock their iPhone, they will need to wait for the next release at a later date. But still no exact date when it will officially launch in Singapore, and also the pricing plans. Probably in September? Just wondering will this “iPhone craze” happen in Singapore, whereby you know people queue outside of all SingTel Retail Stores, hoping to get their first-hand gadget. In one month’s time, DreamPlus Studio will be turning 4 years old. Therefore, I think it will be a very good time for me to recap and see how DreamPlus Studio site design has evolve since 2004.

From the screenshot above, you will see all the 8 different versions of the site design I have created since Aug 2004. At first, I was kind of reluctant to show off, however thinking that being poor or good, its still part of DreamPlus, it can still be interesting and memorable to look at.

The shortest living design will be the orange version (Sep 06 - Oct 06), with only around one month long, before I pull it down. That time, I was thinking of using orange colour for the layout, as it will look different from my previous design and more striking, but later on realised that it can be over striking, and drown off my showcase work. Therefore, I have decided to move on to develop an all new lifestyle look, I wanted to give people an idea that design is actually part of our everyday life, they are not only meant to look good, but to work well for us also. Furthermore, I have make use of multi-colours approach, to give off an interesting feeling, something that does not appear too cold or too “high-class” for most people to accept. This is how the design in Oct 06 was created, and improvised on until the look of today.

Through all these years of doing freelance design, I realised that alot of things dont just come over night, its an endless learning process. You have to keep on doing, in order to learn and grow with it. In this ever-changing world, the only way to survive is to keep moving on…
