Apple 27 July new releases

OK, lets get back to Apple latest new releases yesterday. First of all its the new Apple Magic Trackpad, which run on Bluetooth technology and specially designed for desktop computers. The purpose of it, is to allow users to enjoy the same multi-touch capabilities on the existing macbooks laptops. According to Apple, its even 80% more area. So there’s even more room for you to scroll, swipe, pinch, and rotate to your fingers’ content. And since the entire surface is a button that clicks, you can use it in place of a mouse.

Secondly, is the new and first Apple battery charger, which claimed to have one of the lowest standby power usage values. Furthermore, the Apple Battery Charger is so intelligent that it can sense when its batteries are done charging and automatically reduces the amount of power it needs. According to Apple, the supplied 6 batteries can last you for at least 10 years.

Software Updates: You may also download the latest Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, which will add support to Mac OS X for the Magic Trackpad and is required for its use. It also enables inertial scrolling and the three-finger drag gesture in recent MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks.

Other than that Apple also refreshes its iMacMacPro and LED Cinema Display. The iMac is even faster now (processor: Intel core i3, i5 and i7) which can run both SSD and HDD at the same time. As for the MacPro, it can now run up to 12 cores processing power, and it will be available in August soon. Last but not least, LED Cinema Display is now available in 27″ model too.

WWDC 2010: Apple introduces iPhone 4 and Safari 5

From the latest WWDC 10 keynote, all the focus has been put on the new iPhone 4 design and its functionalities, there is no other releases heard from the rumors such as iTunes.com, new Apple TV, Mac or Macbook, probably only in the upcoming special events then they will announce.

Some of the key features from iPhone 4:

  • FaceTime – Two cameras for video calling
  • Retina Display – Four times the pixel count of previous iPhone models
  • Multitasking – Switch between apps instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily
  • HD Video Recording and Editing – Shoot and edit your video on the the fly

The major part in iPhone 4 lies in its OS, which Apple also re-branded from iPhone OS 4 to iOS 4, which help to make things more inline for its marketing strategy, and easier to pronounce and remember it. However, the iOS4 will only be available on iPhone 3G (limited functions), 3GS and 4G only. As for iPod touch, it will be available for iPod touch 32GB and 64GB models (released in late 2009).

iPhone 4 will be available for pre-order (US) on the 15th of June, and on sale starting from 24th of June. There are two different models for you to choose from (16GB or 32GB flash drive).

Another side note, Apple is getting into the protective case business – Bumpers, which slip over the stainless steel edge of your iPhone 4. They come with metal buttons for volume and power and are made of a combo of rubber and molded plastic. Its available in six colors (white, black, blue, green, orange, or pink).

Other that iPhone 4, Apple also announces the next generation browser – Safari 5, but its not included in the keynote. They only announced it in the afternoon.

Some of the key features from Safari 5:

Steve Jobs @ D8 Interview: “Just because we’re competing with somebody, doesn’t mean we have to be rude”

One of the best videos I like from Steve Jobs @ D8 Interview, when he is talking about the competition between Apple, Microsoft and Google. Another classic quotation when talking about Apple losing out to Microsoft, here is what he said: “I mean we never saw ourselves in a platform war with Microsoft, and maybe that’s why we lost”

Official: iPad available in Singapore on July 2010

Apple has finally plans to release iPad in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July. Apple will announce availability, local pricing and pre-order plans for these nine additional countries at a later date.

As for other countries like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, the launching date will be on Friday, May 28. Customers can pre-order all iPad models from Apple’s online store in all nine countries beginning on Monday, May 10.

I believe in July, it will create another Apple storm in Singapore, probably people queuing up again. However, I will still get mine in San Francisco, hopefully there is stock when I get there.

Can’t wait to get the iPad (Journey to the West – part 7)

OK, I know that the iPad is currently out of stock, and it will be shipped Worldwide in late May. But I just can’t wait anymore, really hope that the stocks will be in when I reached San Francisco in one month’s time.

So here is the plan, once we have touched down at the airport, we’ll drive straight to the nearest Apple Store @ One Stockton Street San Francisco, CA 94108. It’s located on the corner of Ellis Street and Stockton Street near Union Square.

Below is the direction path from San Francisco Airport to Apple Store @ Stockton Street (highlighted in blue):
