Can’t wait to get the iPad (Journey to the West – part 7)

OK, I know that the iPad is currently out of stock, and it will be shipped Worldwide in late May. But I just can’t wait anymore, really hope that the stocks will be in when I reached San Francisco in one month’s time.

So here is the plan, once we have touched down at the airport, we’ll drive straight to the nearest Apple Store @ One Stockton Street San Francisco, CA 94108. It’s located on the corner of Ellis Street and Stockton Street near Union Square.

Below is the direction path from San Francisco Airport to Apple Store @ Stockton Street (highlighted in blue):

Consumers Weigh Apple’s iPad Buzz, Future of Tablet Computing

Apple’s new iPad tablet hit stores over the weekend, selling 300,000 devices on its first day. Jeffrey Brown gets two points of view about the iPad and what it could mean for the future of mobile computing devices.

iPad has started the trend for future organizer

It’s about multi-touch gesture, its about having the right screen size (9″), its about making things easy for the users, its about surfing the web, getting media files and information organized. I feel that iPad has already started the trend for future basic computing, to access and organize files. We don’t actually need a mouse, a physical keyboard. All you need is just a screen and your fingers to get things done. I couldn’t think of anything easier than this (even 3 years old will know how to use it).

We are slowly moving away from the boring folder structure, which many OS are currently using it. iPad has cleverly break down your organizer into application based. For examples, your browser, music, photos, videos and ebooks. You know, sometimes people just wanted to surf the web, checking out their emails, access some of their media files, or basic text editing. iPad has all these essentials ready for you, therefore I don’t see why it won’t create a new market, and attract a new bunch of people to use it.

The only iPad video review you will need

I was browsing the web and came across this great iPad video review by PC Mag, its probably the only one you will need to get an overview of how iPad works, in the shortest period of time. I’m kind of wanting to buy the iPad immediately after watching it, see below to know why:

Preparing Your Web Content for iPad

Apple has released the official documentation to encourage more people to optimize their sites for the iPad. Some sites such as CNN, NTY, Reuters and etc. are already featured under the iPad ready websites. iPad is basically running Safari as its default mobile browser, that supports the latest web standards, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Therefore, just remember no Flash support on the iPad.

DreamPlus Studio and tysoh.com have long removed all its Flash items long time ago, therefore running on the iPad should have no problem at all. However, I have yet to see how the sites are being rendered on the iPad. Hopefully, I will be able to get my iPad very soon, once its been release in Singapore.
